Why Accumulate Money
Money Can Help Achieve Your Goals
In his letter to Timothy, the Apostle Paul wrote that "the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils." We often mistakenly believe that money, itself, is what Paul was concerned about. But, it wasn't money, but the love of money that concerned Paul.
One of the greatest philosophers of the 19th century, Arthur Schopenhauer (1788-1860), once said "Money is a barrier against all possible evils." Indeed, money can be used for good and the acquisition of money can be done in a moral and upright way.
Money can be used to prevent the sufferings of poverty such as cold and hunger. While money can't wipe out all sickness, money can work to prevent and help cure many illnesses. Giving money to charity helps relive others from suffering.
Money can help you obtain an advanced education that may allow you to develop you abilities to achieve extraordinary results. Money allows you the leisure to devote a part of your time to culture and art. Money provides a powerful diversion for all or your troubles by permitting you to be distracted from the conditions that trouble all of us.
You should, therefore, try to understand all the honorable and legitimate ways to generate and conserve your wealth. You need to understand that idleness and wasteful spending will be a certain cause of your financial ruin. Those who leave the duty of managing their assets to strangers may pay a penalty for their negligence. This is why a rich man, who wants to preserve and increase his fortune, should be his own business manager.
But, you should not accumulate money just for money's sake. You should have a goal or plan for using your money. Your goal may be for the improvement of yourself or society through education or development of skills or ideas. Or, you may want to improve the quality of life for others.
History is full of example of people earning money so they can pursue their goals. Shakespeare labored as a theater manager to obtain the necessary funds to produce his dramatic masterpieces. Edison worked as a telegraph operator to pay the bills while he "moonlighted" as an inventor.
From the bottom to the top of the economic ladder, it is necessary to amass money in order to apply it to some great cause. Money is the means by which we may fulfill our purpose in a larger and better way.
You should, in your own way, make an effort to create a level of wealth. You may simply want to use money for your daily wants and needs. You may want to leave a legacy to your children. You may want to support some noble enterprise or charity. And, some times you may see money chiefly as a means of satisfying your immediate gratification.
Whatever the reason, if you are capable of earning money, you should learn how to manage it properly in order to ensure that you will have enough of it to apply to the purposes you choose.
