Vic Varjabedian, Talks About Humor Throughout The Earlier 1900s. - Read And Enjoy!
Humor is my life. You can say Vic Varjabedian lives for humor. Without humor, Vic Varjabedian will be a depressed person.
Humor has been around for a long, long time. Nonetheless it changes over time. What was humorous 50 years ago might not be humorous currently. Judge for yourself. Here's a few of my personal favorite jokes from the earlier 1900's:
Humor # 1
Recipe for an actor:
To one slice of ham add range of roles.
Steep the head in mash notes till it swells,
Garnish with onions, tomatoes and beets,
Or with eggs-from afar-in the shells.

Humor # 2
The later Dr. Henry Thayer, creator of Thayer's Laboratory in Cambridge, was walking around a street one winter morning. The footpath was sheeted with ice as well as the doctor was making his path cautiously, as was also a woman going in the opposite direction. In hoping to avoid the other person, both slipped and so they dropped in a heap. The courteous doctor was seriously affected and his discomfort paralyzed his speech, but the woman was equal to the moment.
"Doctor, if you'll be kind enough to rise and pick up your legs, I'll take what stays," she said politely.
Humor # 3
A preacher had ordered lots of hay from one of his parishioners. Around noon, the parishioner's little son stumbled on the home crying lustily. On being asked what the matter was, he explained that the load of hay had tipped over on the street. The preacher, a kindly person, assured the little fellow that it was nothing critical, and requested him in to dinner.
"Pa wouldn't like it," said the boy.
However the preacher guaranteed him that he would fix it all right with his dad, and urged him to have dinner prior to going for the hay. Right after dinner the boy was asked if he weren't glad that he had stayed.
"Pa won't like it," he persisted.
The preacher, unable to understand, asked the boy just what made him think his daddy would object.
"Why, you see, pa's under the hay," described the boy.
Humor # 4
Once William H. Crane was young and less discreet he'd a vaunting goal to play Hamlet. So with his first profits he organized his private company and he left for an inland western town to give vent to his goal and "try it on."
While he returned to New York several friends pointed out that the actor appeared to be much downcast.
"What's the matter, Crane? Did not they enjoy it?" asked one of his friends.
"They did not appear to," laconically replied the actor.
"Well, did not they provide any encouragement? Didn't they ask you to come prior to the curtain?" persisted the friend.
"Ask me?" replied Crane. "Man, they dared me!"
